Dr. Matt Townsley shares experiences shifting his practice to standards based and mastery teaching principles. The former middle school math teacher is now Assistant Professor at Northern Iowa University who teaches and researches topics around educational leadership. His new book, Making Grades Matter, released this year, and is a treasure of resources for building a standards based community.
Matt’s experience and expertise rolls as stories and analogies that invite listeners to understand important shifts in assessment. Matt’s energy is infectious, and he explains the moves he makes around learning in a way that makes them accessible and exciting.
